Isko unveils musical fountain at Bonifacio Shrine
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno led the unveiling of a musical dancing fountain at the Bonifacio Shrine in time for Valentine’s Day.
Moreno said the beautification of the shrine was one of the projects he considered to honor the memory of national hero Andres Bonifacio.
“This is the product of my imagination, enhancing the park dedicated to the memory of the true brave Batang Maynila from Tondo, Gat Andres Bonifacio, where a dancing fountain will be supported by music and high-tech multicolored LED lighting,” Domagoso said.
Water from the fountain will be boosted by a motor to push it upward and directed back downwards to ensure that nothing is wasted.
This way, the attraction will just use a few drums of water to operate it.
Likewise, the cost of electricity is expected to be minimal with the use of energy-saving LED bulbs.
The musical dancing fountain will be operational at nighttime.
Meanwhile, Domagoso ordered the distribution of television sets complete with digital boxes that will benefit 24,000 wards of day care centers in Manila.
In simple ceremonies held at Manila City Hall, Department of Social Welfare chief Re Fugoso said the mayor ordered the purchase of the TV sets, noting that certain TV programs may also serve as learning and instructional tools for the kids as long as they are wholesome and educational.
The mayor told Fugoso to equip each of the city’s 425 day care centers with TV sets and digital boxes to provide a form of amusement for the kids, especially during breaktime or as an alternative source of entertainment.
However, he stressed the TV should not serve as the main preoccupation of the students, saying nothing still beats books, which help develop children’s reading, speaking and comprehension skills.
Republic Act 6972 provides for the establishment of a day care center in every barangay with a total development and protection of children program for kids up to six years of age.
