PNP knocks down Malabon police assistance center
The Philippine National Police demolished a police assistance center in Malabon City for blocking traffic.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar led the demolition of Police Community Precinct-4’s (PCP-4’s) COMPAC on M.H. Del Pilar Street in Barangay Tinajeros.
Eleazar said the demolition was in compliance with the recent directive of President Duterte to “reclaim all public roads that are being used for private ends.”
It was the second demolition to be undertaken by police in Metro Manila. There were 36 police facilities in the metropolis considered to be road obstructions. Thirty of them are police community precincts, and six are COMPACs.
On Tuesday, a police precinct occupying a sidewalk in San Juan City was torn down.
In demolishing a police facility, Eleazar assured that he coordinated first with local government units so as “not to sacrifice the peace and order in the area.”
The officers detailed at the Malabon COMPAC will be temporarily relocated at Tinajeros’ barangay outpost while Barangay Chairman Ryan Geronimo looks for a place where a new assistance center can be built.
Geronimo said he is willing to help the Philippine National Police (PNP) and is considering a private lot on which to set up the new COMPAC.
The demolished police facility was built 15 years ago as a barangay outpost. It was then turned into a police assistant desk some five years ago, Eleazar said.
