Malabon to grant cash incentives to university topnotchers

Graduates of City of Malabon University (CMU) who will become topnotchers of professional licensure exams will receive incentives from the local government under a new ordinance.

Ordinance No. 02-2019 will grant P50,000 to CMU graduates who will become the top passer of any professional licensure exams by Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC); P30,000 to top 2 to 5, and P20,000 to top 6 to 10.

Subject to certain rules and regulations on employment, the topnotchers will also be given priority to be hired in Malabon City government offices and at CMU, the ‘Malabon City Topnotchers’ Incentives Ordinance’ also read.

In filing the measure, councilors Jose Lorenzo Oreta and Jasper Kevin Cruz, sponsors of the ordinance, believe that recognition and incentives “are excellent motivating factors for students to give their very best, and be more determined to achieve scholastic success.”

They also believe that “the academic achievements will inspire and encourage students to commit to the pursuit of academic excellence.”
