The Philippine Army (PA) distributed food packs to 6,000 families in Malabon City that were affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon.

The Army troopers delivered the food packs to the houses of beneficiaries in Barangay Hulong Duhat to prevent the crowd from gathering.

“The Philippine Army is continuously doing its COVID-19 response by closely coordinating with our stakeholders and having our capabilities available so that the needs of the people are delivered to them as soon as possible,” said Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay, Army commanding general.

Colonel Ramon Zagala, Army spokesperson, said the Malabon families were the initial beneficiaries of the P250 million worth food donations they obtained from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

He said a total of 50,000 food packs are targeted to be repacked and delivered to target communities in Metro Manila in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Meanwhile, the Army Support Command has committed 17 military trucks for the immediate distribution of food assistance to the most vulnerable communities since the enhanced community quarantine was implemented three weeks ago, Zagala added.
