250 Malabon kids get free anti-polio vaccines
More than 250 children below five years old received free anti-polio oral vaccines in Malabon City during the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio in Barangay Longos on Monday.
Residents can get their children vaccinated at Malabon’s health centers, hospitals, and Pagamutang Bayan.
Members of the Malabon City Health Office are also conducting door-to-door vaccinations to cover more ground.
“Siguraduhing napabakunahan ang inyong mga anak para sila ay maprotektahan sa sakit na polio at mapanatili nating polio-free ang ating lungsod (Make sure that your children are vaccinated to protect them from polio and to keep our city polio-free),” Malabon City Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta said in a statement.
Meanwhile, administering of anti-polio vaccines also went on full swing in Navotas and Valenzuela City.
Aside from conducting door-to-door vaccinations, the Valenzuela City Health Office also administered anti-polio vaccines to children at the Gen. T. De Leon Daycare Center.
The first round of administering of anti-polio vaccines will run until October 27. The second round will be on November 25 to December 7.
Last month, the Department of Health declared a polio outbreak in the country, about 19 years after it was eradicated in the Philippines.
