Malabon City released financial to help its 21 barangays to ensure that all residents, especially those who do not temporarily have a job, will not go hungry during the period of the enhanced community quarantine that is imposed on mainland Luzon.

Malabon City Public Information Office chief Bong Padua said that, “on orders of Mayor Oreta…each barangay received P520,000 to buy and provide the basic necessities of its constituents.”

“It depends on the barangay officials if they want to buy grocery package or cook meals for them,” Padua told the Manila Bulletin. “Of course, those from the poorest of the poor are the priority.”

Oreta also released another P6 million to be given to identified karinderia owners in each barangay who will provide meals for 300 people every day for 15 days, Padua said.

“The city will also give away 10,000 pieces of grocery packs every day to be given to the residents,” Padua added.
