Makati Mayor Abby Binay awarded a P100,000-check and a plaque of recognition to Mrs. Milagros Delgado Enage of Barangay Urdaneta, who is one of the five newest centenarians in the city.

The mayor on Tuesday personally handed the check, plaque and bouquet of flowers to each of the awardees in their respective homes.

The other new centenarians are Mrs. Pilar Moreno Valte of Barangay Poblacion, Mrs. Pelagia Cadorna Banguis of San Antonio Village, Mrs. Yia So Pua of Forbes Park, and Mrs. Rufina Rojas Saldaña of San Lorenzo Village. Makati is the first city in the country to provide a P100,000-cash gift to centenarians even before the enactment of a national law granting P100,000 to Filipino centenarians in 2016.

To date, 64 Makati centenarians have been awarded the P100,000 cash gift since 2012 following the passage of City Ordinance No. 2012-099, with 39 of them under Mayor Abby’s term.
