Makati barangays clear roads of obstructions

Barangay officials in Makati City are complying with the order of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to clear roads of obstructions.

This was in response to Makati City Mayor Abby Binay’s instruction to the city’s 33 barangay chairmen to clean their localities following the DILG order.

In his recent State of the Nation Address (SoNA), President Duterte issued the directive for the clearing of all Metro roads of illegal structures and obstructions.

Mayor Abby mobilized personnel from the Public Safety Department, the police and other concerned departments to do their share in compliance with the presidential directive.

To facilitate the smooth implementation of the order, Barangay East Rembo chairman Thelma P. Ramirez has embarked on a public consultation to properly inform residents of her barangay of the impending clearing operations.

“We want to inform them first and hear their response to the impending clearing operations before we proceed in order to avoid misunderstandings later,” she said.
