Niña Ruth Vega, daughter of the former police beat reporter of Manila Bulletin Vic Vega and sports reporter Virgie Rodriguez Vega, has won the Miss Millennial Philippines 2020 crown, according to a report by Manila Standard.

She will be the country’s candidate in the Miss Millennial International competition in Thailand in January.

The 17-year-old senior high school student of University of Perpetual Help stood out among the 44 beautiful young ladies from different regions who competed for the crown.

During the final question and answer portion of the pageant, she was asked how she can use the “millennial spirit” for the betterment of other people.

She answered: “If I will be the one who will win the crown tonight, it would be an honor, worthy of appreciation. This can become my key to spread love, happiness, and moral lessons to the youth by the use of my voice and social media. I can use this platform to encourage more people to be positive during these tough times we need each other and also become a role model for the upcoming generation, because I do believe united as one would be an impact for the greater good of the society.”

Aside from the crown, Vega also won major and special awards, including Best in Resorts Wear, Best in Catwalk, People’s Choice Award, Best in Pageant Walk, Best Photo, and Best in Designer’s Choice of Formal Wear.
