Las Piñas taps SPES students as encoders in vaccination sites
The Las Piñas City government deployed students under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) to the city’s vaccination sites to act as encoders, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the student beneficiaries under the SPES program will have a part-time job during school break.
Aguilar said the students will also be given allowances which they can use for the coming school year.
She said the SPES program is an annual project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in coordination with different local government units.
The mayor said aside from the SPES program, the city government is also offering other programs and activities for the youth’s welfare like the Government Internship Program (GIP), employment facilitation, career guidance, sports development, skills training, and livelihood program.
Aguilar said the city government already hired a total of 80 poor but deserving students to work under the SPES program.
She said each student will be receiving a daily allowance of P537.
