Las Piñas purchases fresh vegetables from Nueva Ecija
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the purchase of vegetables from Nueva Ecija for distribution to city residents.
Aguilar said the food packs being distributed to families affected by the enhanced community quarantine now include vegetables like squash, sweet potato, cabbage, sayote, and potatoes.
The city government has already distributed more than 25,000 food packs in 10 barangays which were identified to have the highest number of informal workers or unemployed.
The family food packs contain rice, assorted canned goods, and noodles. Distribution is still ongoing.
Aguilar also urged city residents to eat only nutritious food even in this time of crisis, to keep themselves healthy and avoid food with excessive amounts of sugar, salt, and those with artificial flavors and preservatives.
She also encouraged city residents to continue staying at home while the country is under the enhanced community quarantine in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The mayor also reminded everyone to strictly observe the one-meter physical or social distancing rule, practice hand washing and appropriate hygiene, exercise, and cooperate with the local government unit in the implementation of health protocols.
