Senator Raffy Tulfo on Wednesday said he will prioritize energy-related measures aimed to lessen extra burden on consumers, especially those who are reeling from high electricity costs and rotational blackouts in the provinces, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

In a Senate hearing by his committee on energy, Tulfo vowed to hold accountable public officials and other private personalities involved in anomalies in the generation, transmission, and distribution of energy.

“I came to know the many problems facing consumers, lalo na ang mahihirap, from my show ‘Wanted sa Radyo.’ Kaya ngayong nandito na ako sa Senado, sisiguraduhin kong maaksyunan ko agad ang mga kinakaharap na problema ng taumbayan, lalo na ang madalas na brownout sa mga probinsya, kabilang na diyan ang Palawan, Bataan, at Davao (especially the poor from my show 'Wanted sa Radyo.’ Now that I'm here in the Senate, I will make sure the problems of the people will be acted upon, especially brownout in the provinces, like in Palawan, Bataan and Davao),” he said.

Tulfo, a popular media personality, said he will summon the politician capitalists who “often than not” are officials of the electric cooperatives that are behind the frequent brownout in the provinces.

"Regardless if they are my friends or not, maniningil ako (I will go after them), because that's my promise to the Filipinos who voted for me: That once I get elected as a Senator, I'll make sure na lahat ng nilapit nila sa akin na problema ay madidinig sa Senado (all the problems they brought to me will be heard in the Senate). I want to hold Senate hearings as soon as possible. Dapat aksyon agad (Need to act immediately)," he added.

The priority bills under the Energy Committee this 19th Congress include, among others, Senate Bill (SB) No. 358 of the “Recoverable System Loss Act,” SB No. 151 or the “Waste to Energy Act” and SB No. 156 or “Energy Advocate Act.”
