San Miguel Corp. has unveiled a proposal to build an elevated expressway along EDSA.

SMC president and COO Ramon Ang said the infrastructure conglomerate
would build a 10-lane elevated expressway on top of the 24-kilometer circumferential road.

Ang said the company would submit the unsolicited offer to the Department of Transportation next week.

The project would complement San Miguel's other projects such as the Skyway Stage 3, Metro Rail Transit Line 7 and the proposed New Manila International Airport in Bulakan, Bulacan.

Ang said the elevated road could be extended to the Cavite Expressway in southern Metro Manila.

He said that once approved, the project could be completed in 24 to 30 months.

EDSA is one of the most congested roads in the world where traffic moves at less than 15 kilometers an hour.
