Marcos-Sara tandem releases initial Senate slate
Ten names have been included in the partial list of senatorial candidates of the UniTeam of presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. (BBM) and vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in the May 2022 elections, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
The group is composed of the following:
- Senator Sherwin Gatchalian
- Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri
- former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro
- former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar
- former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque
- former senator and Antique Rep. Loren Legarda
- former senator Jinggoy Estrada
- Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta
- former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista
- Lawyer Larry Gadon.
In a statement Thursday, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos' chief of staff, said the list represents a mixture of seasoned political personalities who have excelled in their respective endeavors.
He added that the addition of Zubiri in the BBM-Sara UniTeam has bolstered the unity ticket’s already sturdy position in Mindanao, which is his family’s traditional bailiwick.
Rodriguez added that Villar, Gatchalian, Estrada, and Legarda have been consistently among top picks for senatorial candidates in surveys.
On the other hand, he said Marcoleta is currently a House Deputy Speaker and has been in Congress since 2013.
Rodriguez added that Gadon had been helping the Marcos team for years and has slowly made it to the senatorial surveys just a few notches lower from the top 12.
