Low pressure area spotted east off Luzon
A low pressure area (LPA) spotted 1,240 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon may develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the weather bureau said in a report by Philippine News Agency.
The trough of LPA may cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5 a.m. weather advisory.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are forecast over Occidental Mindoro and Palawan due to the southwest monsoon or habagat.
Flash floods or landslides are likely in those areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over the northern and western sections of Luzon.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
