Gov't employees allowed to celebrate Family Week
Malacañang has allowed government personnel working under the executive branch to leave work after 3 p.m. onwards on September 27 in observance of the first day of the 29th National Family Week, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
Under Memorandum Circular (MC) 90 inked by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea by authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, work in the executive branch will be suspended early on September 27 to allow government workers to spend time with their families.
MC 90 was issued in pursuant to Proclamation 60 signed in 1992 which declares the last week of September of every year as Family Week.
“This Office also encourages all government workers in the Executive Branch to fully support the Family Week Celebration prepared by the National Committee on the Filipino Family,” the MC said.
The memorandum circular was also issued to afford government workers to celebrate with their families the Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga, in their respective homes.
The Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day is celebrated every fourth Monday of September every year to encourage Filipino families to keep it as a national tradition to share meals together.
“Those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” the memorandum circular read.
MC 90 also enjoins the suspension of work in other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and the private sector “to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 29th National Family Week.”
The memorandum circular was signed on Tuesday and released on Wednesday.
