DOH reports 6,532 new virus cases on August 4
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 6,352 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, a new record in one-day increase, bringing the total number of cases to 112,593.
Based on the DOH’s Case Bulletin for COVID-19, the National Capital Region (NCR) accounted for 3,139 of the new cases, followed by Laguna with 592, Cavite with 550, Rizal with 277 and Cebu with 261.
The 6,352 new cases came from 80 of the 94 testing laboratories across the country, according to the DOH.
Data also showed that 11 patients died, raising the death toll to 2,115, while 240 recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 66,049 as of yesterday.
The latest figures came as the DOH said it is working together with the Health Professionals Alliance Against COVID-19 (HPAAC) to address the seven-point issues they raised in their letter to President Duterte over the weekend.
HPAAC is an alliance of some 100 medical organizations that called for a “timeout” in the NCR, which resulted in the imposition of modified enhanced community quarantine in the nation’s capital and nearby provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan.
“Currently, we are still finalizing the details of the forward plans with the medical societies,” the DOH said.
The agency added it would come out with the “recalibrated strategy” on Friday.
