Daily new Covid cases fall below 1,000
The average number of new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases per day nationwide is now below 1,000, the OCTA Research Group said in a report by Philippine News Agency.
The group's latest report showed the country's current seven-day average for the week (November 21 to 27) is 954.
It was 1,346 during the previous seven-day period.
"The average daily attack rate (ADAR) is now less than 1 per day per 100,000 [individuals] which means the country is low risk based on ADAR," OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said in a tweet.
The country's one-week growth rate is minus 29 percent and the reproduction number is 0.34.
Meanwhile, the seven-day death average for November 21 to 27 is 186, which is 20 percent lower than the 233 deaths per day reported the previous week.
As for the National Capital Region, the seven-day average of new cases is 241, representing 25 percent of the national cases.
"If the trends continue, new cases are projected to decrease to less than 500 per day by the December holidays," David said.
On Sunday, the Department of Health reported 838 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest single-day case count for 2021.
There were also 1,217 new recoveries that reduced the active cases to 16,630 or just 0.6 percent of the total 2,831,807 infections since March last year.
With the world eventually recuperating from the impacts of the Covid-19 virus in 2021, it looks like the new year of 2022 has something new and even worse in store. Leading countries like the United States, United Kingdom are reporting over 100,000 ...
