The one-week growth rate of COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) has gone down to 14%, along with its reproduction number, independent monitoring group OCTA Research said in a report by GMA News.

In a tweet on Wednesday, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David showed data that NCR’s growth rate decreased from the 21% recorded on July 26, to 14% on August 2.

Its reproduction number—or the number of people infected by one case—also declined from 1.33 to 1.24 over the same period.

Despite this, NCR’s one-week positivity rate—or the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested—increased from 15.5% to 16.9%.

Its seven-day average of COVID-19 infections also jumped from 1,057 to 1,209.

NCR’s average daily attack rate (ADAR) also jumped from 7.34 on July 26 to 8.39 on August 2.

ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

“There is again hope that cases will peak soon,” David said, noting that NCR is still under moderate risk.

NCR’s healthcare utilization rate also remained at low risk at 38%, while its intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy was at 30%.

The Philippines on Tuesday recorded 2,646 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the active caseload to 32,099.
