Bato dela Rosa tests positive for Covid
Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa announced he tested positive for the coronavirus disease, according to a report by CNN Philippines.
“I am sorry to inform you that I tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday,” dela Rosa said in a Facebook post, urging those who had contact with him to observe the necessary health protocols.
Dela Rosa’s office also confirmed to CNN Philippines the senator’s diagnosis. He currently has cough and cold, his office added.
Dela Rosa is the fifth senator to be infected with the virus. His colleagues Miguel Zubiri, Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, Sonny Angara, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. have survived the viral disease.
During the hearing on the proposed 2021 national budget on Friday night, lawmakers talked about a fellow senator who may have tested positive for COVID-19.
They did not mention any name but Zubiri said the senator suspected of coronavirus infection last reported to the Senate on Wednesday.
Senator Richard Gordon, who is also chairman of the Philippine Red Cross, advised those who interacted with the lawmaker to do self-quarantine.
