57,000 families flee homes amid 'Tisoy' onslaught

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said some 57,918 families or 225,768 individuals across four regions fled their homes to different evacuation centers.

In the agency's 8 a.m. update Tuesday signed and released by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, pre-emptive evacuations were conducted in Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.

The NDRRMC also reported that a total of 6,557 passengers, 1,506 rolling cargoes, 138 vessels, and 66 motorbancas were reported stranded in different ports nationwide.

Also, the agency reported that a total of 22 houses were damaged in Region V and the Cordillera Administrative Region, of which 13 were fully damaged and nine partially damaged.

As of this posting, the NDRRMC Operations Center in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City remains on "blue alert" status and is continuously monitoring the developments caused by the weather disturbance.
