10 million families receive DSWD assistance
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) said 10 million families have receive assistance under the first tranche of the Social Amelioration Program for those affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
According to the data presented during the meeting of the House Defeat Covid-19 Committee on Friday, a total of 10,135,634 families, out of the 18 million target beneficiaries, had received financial assistance as of April 30. A total of P53.8 billion have been distributed from the P100-billion budget allocated for the first tranche of the emergency subsidy.
A total of P16.3 billion had been distributed to 3.7 million families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, P37.1 billion to 6.3 million low-income households and P323 million to over 40,000 families from the transportation sector.
The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act prescribes an emergency relief of P5,000 to P8,000 each for low-income families affected by the Covid-19 crisis and the government-implemented community quarantine.
