The 18 new air-conditioning units for the Metro Rail Transit 3 have been installed, the Department of Transportation announced Friday.

In a statement, the transport department said the installation of the air-conditioning units could not have come at a better time as the summer heat made travel unbearable.

The new air-conditioning units were part of the second batch of units bought for the MRT system. Last year, 42 air-conditioning units were installed on MRT-3 trains.

The MRT-3 is expecting 18 more air-conditioning units within the year.
