Caloocan finally controlled its dangerous spiral toward elimination after it destroyed Zamboanga, 83-74, in their Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season match on Tuesday at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

The match, which drew the most number of technical fouls in an MPBL game, saw Almond Vosotros’ most productive game, wherein he made 31 points and rallied the Caloocan Victory Liner Supremos to its first win in four games.

“We had a difficult situation in our first three games. We had a lot of infighting. The team almost broke up,” said Caloocan coach John Kallos in the vernacular. “But we talked about it, and we agreed to forget about the problems. We should now all move forward, especially after this win.”

Two other Caloocan players contributed double digits to the team score. John Escalambre shot 12 markers and Paul Sanga sunk 10.

Zamboanga, meanwhile, did not have a good time trailing Caloocan by six points in the first half at 35-29.

The second half saw the team drawing multiple technical fouls, two for unsportsmanlike conduct, one on head coach Raymond Valenzona and the other on Leo de Vera for hanging onto the rim.

Caloocan was not spared, though. A bench technical was imposed on the team in the first half, while an unsportsmanlike foul was placed on John Ambulodto for second motion.
