Caloocan mayor joins vaccination rollout

Nakiisa si Mayor Oca Malapitan sa unang araw ng Covid-19 vaccination rollout sa isa sa mga Covid-19 referral hospitals sa bansa, ang Dr. Jose Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center sa Tala, Caloocan City.

Kasama sina Covid-19 Vaccine Czar Sec. Vince Dizon, Department of Health (DOH) Asec. Elmer Punzalan, Dr. Jose Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center Chief II Dr. Alfonso Famaran, Jr., at Nursing Services Chief Samuel Sumilang, sinaksihan ni Mayor Oca ang simula ng pagbabakuna sa mga health worker gamit ang Sinovac vaccine.

Naunang bakunahan si Dr. Famaran at Nurse Sumilang at sumunod si Sec. Dizon. Sila ay dumaan sa limang istasyon: Registration, Screening, Counseling and Final Consent, Vaccination at Monitoring pagkatapos mabakunahan.

Bagamat nais na rin magpabakuna upang mas tumaas ang kumpyansa ng mga mamamayan sa bakuna, ang Punong-Lungsod na isa ng senior citizen ay kasama sa mga hindi nirerekomenda ng DOH at Food and Drug Administration para sa Sinovac vaccine.

"Kahit na gusto po natin ay kailangan po natin sumunod sa guidelines ng pamahalaang nasyunal. Nawa sa susunod na dating ng bakuna ay makapagpabakuna na ako para mas mahikayat ang mga taga-Caloocan na magpabakuna rin," ani Mayor Oca.

Sa kaniyang mensahe, ipinaabot ni Mayor Oca ang kaniyang pasasalamat sa pamahalaang nasyunal at sa lahat ng magigiting na health workers na nasa unahan ng laban kontra Covid-19.

"May panlaban na po tayo. Huwag po natin sayangin ang pagkakataon na ito. Hanggat maaari ay magpabakuna po tayo para sa unti-unting pag-ahon natin sa pandemyang ito," pahayag ni Mayor Oca.
