Malapitan on verge of landslide victory in Caloocan
Oscar Malapitan, who is seeking his third and final term as mayor of Caloocan City, appears to be on the verge of a landslide victory.
As of 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Malapitan had already garnered 423,072 votes. The result was based on 98.3 percent of the total votes tallied.
The city board of canvassers was still waiting for the results of two vote counting machine SD cards. Vote counting was adjourned around 3 a.m. and then restarted around 8 a.m.
Malapitan vowed to help the national government should he win the election. He said he planned to build a new hall of justice and city jail.
