Malapitan takes oath as Caloocan mayor
Oscar Malapitan took his oath of office at the New Caloocan City Hall grounds Friday morning.
Malapitan, now on his third term, was sworn in by Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin. They were joined by Malapitan’s wife and children.
In a speech, Malapitan assured Caloocan City residents that he would “always prioritize the people.”
He said he would continue his existing programs, including the mobile city hall, the cash-for-work program, and the scholarship program.
Malapitan vowed to finish all the projects he started in his last three years in office.
“First of all is the construction of the new city jail, which will address the congestion problem in the present city jail, as well as the construction of the new hall of justice, the first convention hall, and the new civic centers,” he said.
Malapitan expressed hope that the city government would keep its Seal of Good Local Governance award, which it had been receiving for the past four years from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
