Caloocan Mayor Oca Malapitan, together with the Caloocan City Health Department (CHD), encouraged all parents and guardians of children aged 5 years old and below to avail the free anti-measles vaccine in any Caloocan health center.
According to CHD Chief Dr. Maybelle Sison, "measles is a highly contagious disease and could be dangerous for children particularly newborns."
"There is no reason for Caloocan residents not to have anti-measles vaccine because Mayor Oca makes sure that the vaccine is available for FREE all year round," added Dr. Sison. She also assured the public that the vaccines being used were thoroughly tested and proven to be safe.
The City of Caloocan earlier intensified its campaign against measles by conducting house to house immunization and information dissemination campaign.
