QC Library, Knowledge Channel team up to promote reading
The Quezon City Public Library has forged an agreement with the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. to promote reading to children of the city.
Alistair Troy Lacsamana, QCPL children’s section head, said both parties agreed to produce shows featuring the library’s puppets to be aired on the Knowledge Channel.
The puppets are the library’s most popular attractions. They help impart values not only to young library goers but also to school children all over Quezon City.
On the other hand, the Knowledge Channel is an educational media channel that promotes the development of basic education through audio-visual presentations.
The channel’s shows are anchored on government-prescribed curricula for preschool to secondary schoolchildren, as well as on the Alternative Learning System.
Rina Lopez-Bautista, KCFI president and executive director, said the puppets would help Knowledge Channel connect to more children.
“We share the same advocacy with the Quezon City Public Library in promoting the culture of reading,” Lopez-Bautista said.
