Clean-up permits for Manila Bay, free of charge

in City News / Manila by 456

The city government of Manila clarified that the permit needed before a volunteer can help cleaning the Manila Bay is ‘free’ amid reports circulating on social media asking volunteer groups to secure and pay for a permit.

In a Facebook post on February 4, Atty. Trixie-Cruz Angeles posted a screenshot of a message from her fan, informing that Manila City government asked them to pay for a permit so they can participate in the Manila Bay cleanup.

The informant is a member of a big bike group who wanted to help the government in cleaning the Manila Bay.

I have a pic po of my convo with one of the dragon boat rider who is a cyclist po.” (Someone told me that it is required to pay before they can volunteer to help in the cleanup), the informant said.

“Ang naniningil po ay yung Manila municipality,” (The Manila municipality is collecting the payment), he added.

However, the city of Manila reiterated the permit is for the construction materials that will be used during the cleanup.

Wala pong bayad ito,” it added.
